KRISH

Stand: Interdependency between Sri Lanka and India, beneficial to each other and this has led to the formation of an intense networking between the countries which is strengthening in the present and will much more in the future.
Language and Idea: Interlocking modules creating an intense network of terraces which are landscaped and also bring about an interaction between the public and the semi public to represent the transparency of the relations and how these modules become office spaces and in certain areas service blocks, and the form allows the creation of interactive open spaces.

Understanding of interlocking of modules creating terraces and pathways between the modules

An open entrance bringing the surrounding landscape into the building and therefore also continuing the porosity of the site by allowing all modules to be on stilts

creating intermediate open spaces which start becoming roofs for one module and start becoming terraces for another module thus bringing out the idea of interdependency and how it creates an intense network within the  modules and represents the strengthening of networking between the two nations

exploration of terraces and open spaces created as a result of interlocking and interaction between modules

looking at the 3 programs as to how they start fragmenting themselves and start interacting with each other, mixing of public and semi public functions to indicate transparency of india and sri lanka networks.Yellow-chancery, Blue-cultural annexe, Red-commissioner's residence

Changing the axis to pay respect to the independence memorial and tilting the entrance towards the pedestrian pathway and empty public spaces in order to draw the crowd inside the building and as well as create an entrance which merges into the site and creates an experience of being a part of the building even though one has not entered the building. Clear separation between the functions of the building.
bring in the idea of growth and intense networking through exploring with the placement of the modules to create this kind of fragmented modular systems gradually becoming masses interlocked with each other and creating open spaces and terraces as the initial idea.
An exploration of the same idea of terraces being created but in a more organised manner as a result of the interlocking, these terraces could start becoming spaces serving the general public. Designed a pathway through terraces which could start springing up as a result of the interlocking of the modules.

Same idea of opening out the terrace and also creating terraces as a result of the interlocking in such a way that they start becoming viewports  for people on other terraces in the building. Thus as a result of the interlocking, terraces start becoming viewports which creates this intense network of viewports and viewing between terraces and connecting the building to the outside
Scale and dimensions of the module changing as a result of the view to be captured, for example, i wanted the people on certain terraces to capture the view of the long pedestrian path springing from the independence memorial, so i created a long, stretched out terrace which celebrates the pathway and creates a visual interaction with the outside public.
