Impressions of Bawa House
House no.11 Balsa Model
Project: Make an extension to the Bawa House for an exhibition area
Process: Analysed the Bawa House in terms of:
1.Circulation
2.Open and Closed space relationships.
Intent: To invert the position of the viewer from a closed to an open space and draw the viewers attention to the walls through a series of parallel walls forming compressed courtyards that release toward the sky.
JURY I - Sri Lanka: Indian High Commission
Site: Fort area, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Process: An embassy had to represent the relationship between India and Sri Lanka.
Analysed the site.Fort built by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British near the site.
Looked at the fort as a mark left by one country on another country.
Concept: To make a new 'fort' that would comment on the relationships between Sri Lanka and other countries in the past and that it has with India by adopting and negating the characteristics of a conventional fort.
